In Memoriam

Theodore (Ted) Isaac Rubin, M.D.
4/11/1923 – 2/16/2019
Dr. Rubin was a major figure at AIP. He was a beloved faculty member, training and supervising analyst, and president of the AIP. Dr. Rubin was well known to the public as a result of the thirty books he authored, his columns in national magazines and appearances on television. He is perhaps best known for his book about love that developed between two
unhappy, troubled, adolescents “Lisa and David” that was made into the classic popular movie “David and Lisa.” His creativity, lively intellect, sense of humor and his passion for psychoanalysis will always be with us.

Jack Danielian, Ph.D.
10/25/1934 – 3/28/2018
Dr. Danielian was a valued member of the AIP serving as faculty, supervisor, training and supervising analyst and dean. He presented and published extensively, teaching and integrating Horneyan theory into his work. His most recent publications, with his colleague Patricia Gianotti, include “Uncovering the Resilient Core: A Workbook on the Treatment of Narcissistic Defenses, Shame, and Emerging Authenticity” (2017) and “Listening with Purpose: Entry Points into Shame and Narcissistic Vulnerabilities” (2012).  He is greatly missed.
