Social Media: How to Develop a Practice That Works for You

The internet makes it easier to develop a private practice than ever before but harder to make it work. Patients are often difficult to engage, leave treatment prematurely, and present with serious emotional problems and clinical crises.

Training at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis provides the knowledge, skills and support system necessary to thrive in private practice in the age of the internet.

The AIP training programs have been serving the complex needs of clinicians for over 77 years. Member of the American Psychoanalytic Association & International Psychoanalytical Association. Certificate Program in Psychoanalysis; Licensure Qualifying Program in Psychoanalysis; Certificate Two Year Program in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy; Clinical Experience at the Karen Horney Clinic (an OMH Licensed Clinic).

  • A broad-based contemporary curriculum
  • Karen Horney’s experience-near theory of split and conflicted self
  • Case Presentations, Journal Clubs, Book Clubs and Scientific Meetings
  • Individual and group supervision
  • Psychotherapy/Psychoanalysis for reduced fees by AIP Faculty
  • Referral Service which provides private patient referrals for students

Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors and Psychologists can count their clinical experience at the Karen Horney Clinic toward licensure as stipulated by New York State Law.
